Please note that Burdette’s Notice and Practices described below do not apply to your relationship with other financial services providers such as insurance companies, annuity providers, agents, brokers and life settlement brokers or providers that are not affiliated with Burdette Direct and with whom you may exchange protected or confidential information. Their specific privacy policies and information practices govern how they collect, use and disclose information provided to them.

What Types of Information Do We Collect?

In the course of evaluating and qualifying life insurance policies we may collect the following personal information which is required to evaluate the potential sale of your life insurance policy:

  • Information that we receive directly from you, your insurance or life settlement representative, your doctors or others. This information may include your name, address, telephone number, health and medical information and information related to your insurance policies; health and insurance policy information is only collected upon obtaining proper authorization from you.
  • Information about your transactions with your insurance company and/or Burdette Direct, such as payment history, underwriting and claim information;
  • Information about your transactions with non-affiliated third parties;
  • Information that we receive from consumer reporting agencies and other private or public sources of information.

How Do We Use the Information We Collect?

The information we collect is used for the purpose of evaluating and qualifying life insurance policies which you have expressed an interest in selling and requested information regarding the process and the potential feasibility of a transaction. In the course of that evaluation, we may disclose information about you to our affiliates and to non-affiliated brokers, providers or other third parties in the course of evaluating and qualifying the respective life insurance policies, or as required or permitted by law.

Who Has Access To Your Information In Our Records?

We use a system of rigorous safeguards to protect against unauthorized access to your nonpublic personal information contained in our records. These protections include appropriate physical, electronic and procedural practices. Access to your information is restricted to only those individuals who we believe reasonably need to know the information to evaluate or qualify life insurance policies which you have identified as being available for sale. We educate our employees about the terms of this Notice and the essential nature of confidentiality and consumer privacy.

Changes to This Notice.

We reserve the right to modify or supplement this privacy policy at any time in accordance with applicable law. If we make material changes to our privacy policy, we will provide you with a copy of a revised Notice by placing a prominent notice on our website.
